Half way up Mt Rigi, sitting still, mind on the sensations of the whole body, mind and body begins to unify. All information about the world comes through the body – light through the eye, sound through the ear, touch through the skin, smells through the nose, tastes through the tongue. As the mind and body unify, so the apparent duality between the environment and the self also unifies. Hearing an owl, there is no gap between the sounds and the one who hears – as the Buddha put it, ‘In the sound, there is just the sound’. This is a magical miraculous world, which we are normally shut out of by believing in the constructions of the Mind.
